thanks for the patch, @MWhybrow92. I am spread a little thin at the moment, but will take a look this weekend.

(Using None is what was suggested on pexpect's FAQ but the intent was the same — not to wait. On the other hand, 3.5.2 is hardly a recent version 😄, so it's probably worth trying this on a few versions to confirm.)
